Midas XL8 Offline Editor V1.10Beta1 and PRO6 Offline Editor V1.02Beta1
The Midas Offline Editor allows you to create, edit and view show files for either a XL8 or a PRO6 on any Intel-based Apple Macintosh computer running OSX 10.5 or higher. You can now prepare shows ahead of time, learn the console operation, migrate your XL8 show to a PRO6 or vice-versa and so on – all from the comfort of your room without access to a console. The Offline Editor allows full control of all parameters – including creation of showfiles, management of preset libraries, system setup and patching and so on: anything you can do on the console you can do on the Offline Editor, without learning any new operational methods. You can run either the XL8 version or the PRO6 version to create your show – as on the physical consoles, both will open the same showfiles, but you are limited to the available resources on that console.
The Midas Offline Editor runs in exactly the same manner as the console software with the addition of one extra screen on the PRO6 OE, which is an overview screen designed to ease navigation (the XL8 version does not contain the overview). You load and save your show to and from a USB key and import onto your control centre in the normal way.
This software is BETA SOFTWARE – we are releasing it for testing and evaluation purposes only. We have tested the show file created and imported and we have not found any issues, but you should be aware that there is the possibility that a showfile saved by the Offline Editor may not run on the console quite as you expect. You are responsible for checking all your shows saved form the offline editor if you use them on a console (we would not recommend using shows like this in a live environment). Because of these restrictions, you must indicate that you agree with our beta agreement before you download and install the software. Please read this agreement carefully, as it sets down the restrictions you must operate under if you are to use the software.
Version numbers: note that the versions are ‘in sync’ with the console version numbers, which indicates what they will work with – that is, XL8 Offline Editor V1.10Beta1 will only work with the XL8 V1.10, and PRO6 Offline Editor V1.02Beta1 will work only with PRO6 V1.02. No other combinations are officially supported, though our forward and backward showfile convertor technology on the console may mean that you can load the shows to different console versions – again, it is up to you to check that these are imported correctly.
