NEW POLISH MIDAS DISTRIBUTOR SELLS XL8 IN TWO MINUTES
Midas and Klark Teknik’s newly-appointed Polish distributor Audio Plus has made its first XL8 Live Performance System sale in record time – just two minutes after its official appointment to the position.
The sale was confirmed following a training academy which introduced XL8 to Poland, just before the appointment became official. Audio Plus, a long-time Electro-Voice distributor, is regularly supported at its academies by local small-to-medium rental company Legro. Owners Jacek Graczewski and Grzegorz Lesniewski underwent a few hours of XL8 training before the academy, and according to Audio Plus sales director Sebastian Pawlak, it was love at first sight as they went on to mix four bands throughout the evening, getting used to the surface very quickly and having lots of fun in the process.
“Just after midnight on 17 May - two minutes after Audio Plus became the official Midas and KT distributor for Poland - I received one of the shortest phone calls ever,” recounts Pawlak. “It was Jacek from Legro, who said, ‘Hi, Sebian. We're taking this console. Goodnight!’ This has changed the face of Poland’s rental market. If a small company like Legro can do it, what about the others?”
Audio Plus was founded in 1998 as an Electro-Voice distributor, and has been nominated Electro-Voice’s Best Concert Sound Distributor in Eastern Europe several times sinice. The company has set up a new division, Midas Consoles Poland, to deal with the new business this appointment will bring. “To become the Midas distributor is hugely prestigious for us; not only in having fantastic products but also by taking on responsibility for these products as well as Midas customers in our region,” says Pawlak. “We intend to be the Polish version of Midas HQ. We closely follow their philosophy, ‘The demo makes the sale’, and it works.”
Legro acoustician Karolina Dyda will be travelling to Midas in Kidderminster to receive full XL8 training. “At Legro we have often used digital consoles, and as we were familiar with other Midas products we decided to buy the system,” she says. “Not only is it the most advanced digital audio product, it's totally reliable and easy to operate. You can mix on it having very little experience in digital audio. The control centre enables you to work really fast and it only takes a couple of minutes to get accustomed to the layout. And it sounds great, just as I expected.”
